A little history about my signs.... Most of you out there grow grass, out in Texas we grow rocks, or so it seems.... as we have so many and no grass. We have a driveway to our cabin, which is a dirt road actually....and I recently started taking walks down the road for exercise. I noticed how many rocks we had and thought, how pretty and smooth they were. My recent project is making personalized signs with found wood. That is old wood I find all over our ranch...from an old fence or barrel to a torn down barn. A great conversation piece let your imagination run wild! I don't use treated/toxic wood! Some can be pretty old and rustic but I find it interesting enough to use and it usually turns out to be one of my favorites. The wood signs are sealed with a varnish so can be used indoors or out. Anyway, the thought came to me, why not paint the rocks like I do my wood? I searched carefully to find the perfect rocks I would use, flat on the bottom to stand on their own. I happened to have on jeans that had large pockets on the sides of the legs, so I loaded up every pocket I could find in my jeans and carried the rest of them in my hands home. What a work out! I now carry a bag with me on my walks to carry my precious rocks home, still gives me a good workout! I was worried about the weight and then realized that is what flat rate boxes are for! All my rocks are washed before painting and sealed with a varnish so they are for indoor and outdoor use. They can be used as door stoppers, placed in the garden or just sit on a shelf to enjoy! These signs are painted on found non-treated/toxic wood. I do not sand the wood and some of the wood is very rustic, so some pieces may have rough edges☺(wouldn't want you to have any surprises!). The wood is cleaned and then painted with acrylics on all sides. They can be displayed indoors or out. If using outdoors you may want to hang under shelter if it has the ribbon hanger, or you can trade out the ribbon for a wire hanger if you email artexpressions@hotmail.com
